A UFSCar é uma universidade federal brasileira criada em 1968 e possui 4 campi localizados no interior de São Paulo, nas cidades de São Carlos, Araras, Sorocaba e Lagoa do Sino. O grupo de pesquisa em atomização a gás e manufatura aditiva do Departamento de Engenharia de Materiais (DEMa) da UFSCar iniciou suas pesquisas nesta área em 2011, acumulando grande experiência no processamento de pó metálico, no processamento por laser e na manufatura aditiva por Fusão em Leito de Pó a Laser (LPBF), além da caracterização de materiais.
